NEW PROGRAM FOR INCOMING 9TH GRADE STUDENTS AT ROOSEVELT HIGH SCHOOL

Roosevelt High School has partnered with researchers at Seattle Children’s Hospital and the University of Washington to offer a special high school orientation program for incoming ninth grade students with attention, organization, or academic motivation difficulties. Students who qualify for the program will be eligible to attend a one-week pre-high school orientation in August focused on time management, study skills, and self-motivation. During the school year, students will be eligible to receive ongoing weekly peer support with an 11th or 12th grade mentor at Roosevelt, as well as a monthly mentor meeting with a UW undergraduate student. All students participating will receive free school supplies at the beginning of the school year. As a parent or guardian, you will have the opportunity to attend orientation sessions focused on tools and strategies you can use at home to help your 9th grader with attention and organization.

To find out if your student qualifies or to learn more about the program you can email, call or text the program staff at summerstripes.sibley@gmail.com or ‪(971) 217-8206.
