Eckstein Band Letter and Tentative Band Schedule

Eckstein Band Calendar for 2018-19, updated 11/5/18

Read important information about privately owned music instruments. Students should be instructed to be extremely careful about where their instrument is left while at school. Whenever possible, instruments should be stored in the storage room designated by the music teacher. Student cases should be plainly marked with the student's name and school. Parents should investigate the possibility of including privately owned musical instruments on homeowner's or renter's insurance policies. It is not the policy for the Seattle Public Schools to assume responsibility for these instruments.

This letter also includes a request for a $90.00 Enrichment Fee that is used to sustain the quality of the music program at Eckstein. Please make your check payable to Eckstein Bands.

2018 Solo & Ensemble Contest at Eckstein

    March 31st (Date Change)

Signup Deadline is March 16, 2018. Musicians of all abilities in sixth through eighth grade are encouraged to participate in this year's Solo and Ensemble contest, to take place on Saturday, March 31. The event gives students in choir, band, and orchestra an opportunity to play a short piece -- individually or with a group -- before a local professional musician who will encourage students and provide feedback on their performance. All participants will receive a medal and certificate. Students should check with music teachers to learn if incentives are offered to those who participate. Registration closes March 16, 2018. Scholarships are available to cover the entry fee. Students are assigned a performance time, so it is a fairly short time commitment on March 24. Please remind your student to bring a copy of their music for the adjudicator to look at while they are performing. If you have questions, feel free to contact your student’s music teacher.
