2025 Camp Orkila Information

Eighth grade fieldtrip to Camp Orkila is October 15-17.

Our Eighth Grade Camp Orkila fieldtrip is on October, 15-17, 2025. Because it is an overnight fieldtrip, there are multiple forms that you need to complete. Please have your student return the completed forms to their Science teacher by Friday, October 3rd, 2025.

We will have an optional information meeting on Teams for families on Tuesday, October 9th at 5:30-6:00 pm.

Dates to Note:

  • 9/25: Open House informational booth
  • 10/3: Fieldtrip Permission Form Packet Due to Student’s Homeroom Teachers
  • 10/8: Medications & Medication Authorizations completed by a doctor due to nurse (See instructions below)
  • 10/09: 5:00 – 5:30PM – Chaperone Meeting on TEAMS (Link will be emailed to chaperones)
  • 10/09: 5:30 – 6:00PM – Parent/Guardian Meeting on TEAMS (Link will be emailed to families)
  • 10/13: Student Assembly
  • 10/15-10/17: Camp Orkila Fieldtrip!

    Students need to pack a lunch for the first day as they travel to Camp Orkila. Please indicate on the permission form if they need to the school to provide their lunch.

Medications at Camp Orkila

  • Students who need to take prescription medications, over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol and/or dietary supplements must have an Authorization to Administer Medication form completed by a healthcare provider for each medication/over-the-counter medications/dietary supplements.
  • Forms must be signed by both a guardian AND student’s prescribing healthcare provider.
  • Students cannot self-carry/self-administer their medications unless they are emergency medications for a life-threatening health condition, and it has been preapproved by the nurse.

All medications with forms must be turned into the School Nurse by Wednesday, October 10, 2025. Medications/supplements must be unexpired. Prescription medications must have a pharmacy label with the student’s name, medication name, and dosing instructions. For questions, please email Nurse Morelli at ljmorelli@seattleschools.org

What to pack

A few things to consider:

  • Activities happen rain or shine so be sure to pack appropriately!
  • Bring old clothes. New clothes get worn out quickly at camp!
  • All items should be marked with students’ names
  • Students will need to carry their own luggage from the bus to their cabins. Please limit each student to one duffle bag or suitcase!
