Basketball Tryouts – Week of Dec. 9, 2024

We’re all excited for another great year of basketball at Eckstein!

We are still in need of basketball coaches for both programs. Please reach out to the Athletic Coordinator, Derek Grandbois if you are interested: djgrandbois@seattleschools.org

Tryout times are listed below.
Practices will start the following week.
Games will be played on Saturday.

Tryouts:

• There will be three teams per program this year: Varsity, JV and JVC for boys and girls.
• There will be cuts to create teams.  Unfortunately, there is not a guaranteed spot on the team if your athlete played last year.
• The girls’ and boys’ teams will have a mix of all grade levels. Exception, there will be no 8th graders placed on JVC.
• All paperwork and physicals must be completed and uploaded to FinalForms by December 6th at four o’clock to participate at tryouts on December 10th.

• There will be no late tryouts.
• Head coaches have final decision of who makes the Eckstein team.
• Players will be informed of which team or if they were cut through email.

Expectations:

• It is expected that student-athletes will maintain 2.0 GPA with no more than 1 failing grade, coaches may have higher expectations for eligibility and play. Additionally, student-athletes need to be on-time and fully participate in all classes. Failure to adhere to classroom standards can lead to game or team suspension.

Boys Tryouts

Tuesday, December 10 – All 6th graders + non-returning 7th graders

Group A – Families were emailed their student’s group

• Check in at 4 pm
• 4:30 – 6 pm
  
  Group B – Families were emailed their student’s group

• Check in at 5:45 pm
• 6:15 – 7:45 pm

Cuts will happen after tryout

Wednesday, December 11 – All 8th graders + Returning Players

• Check-in at 5 pm
• 5:30-7:30 pm

Cuts will happen after tryout.

Thursday, December 12 – Final Cut
All 6^th graders + non-Returning Players 7^th graders

• Check-in at 4:15 pm
• 4:30-6pm

All 8^th graders + Returning Players

• 6:15-7:45 pm
• Check-in at 6 pm

Boys Practices

• BOYS VARSITY: Tuesday and Thursday 4:15 -5:45 and Friday 4:00 – 4:30 for a 30-minute walk-through
• BOYS JV: Tuesday and Thursday 5:45 -7:15
