Interest Groups

Eckstein Interest Groups

Below is a list of the activities we offer at Eckstein.

Chess Club (After school)
Is your student interested in learning and/or improving their chess skills? Consider enrolling them in Chess Club at Eckstein. Chess Club at Eckstein will be hosted by Orlov Academy in Room 106 with Ms. Haakanson on Mondays beginning October 14, 2024. The fee is $175 per student. Scholarships are available. Email Ms. Detering at jrdetering@seattleschools.org if interested.

Dungeons & Dragons (After school)
Join your fellow D&D enthusiasts for D&D fun. Meets Mondays and Thursdays after school in the Library.  Contact Ms. Maxwell at samaxwell@seattleschools.org to join.

Art League (Lunch)
Let your inner artist explore art. Meets Thursdays during lunch in Room 125. Students will pick up a pass from an adult in the lunchroom after eating lunch. Limit: 20 per lunch.

Rainbow Society (Lunch)
A safe space for LGBTQIA2+ students. Starts October 3rd and meets every other Thursday during 1st lunch in Room 207 and during 2nd lunch in Room 107. Contact Mr. Isaacson at kpisaacon@seattleschools.org to sign up.

Game Group (1st Lunch)
Play board games and puzzles. Meets Mondays during first lunch in P9.

Books & Bites (Lunch)
Discuss books while enjoying your lunchMeets Tuesdays during lunch in the library. Students can sign up on the Library Schoology page.

Maker Mondays (Lunch)
Come for crafting and jewelry makingMeets Mondays in the library. Students can sign up on the Library Schoology page.

Crochet Group (After School)
Come learn how to crochet and create fun items. Meets Tuesdays after school in Room 121. Contact: Ms. Clark – ttclark@seattleschools.org

Native Group (Homeroom)
A space for students with Native ancestry or interest, to build community and learn together.
Meets Tuesdays during homeroom.

Junior Jazz Band (After school)
This group meets after school, Tuesdays and Thursdays. No experience required, students join by letting Mr. E know they’re interested. It’s okay to miss occasional rehearsals, just try your best to attend. If you are busy for a season, you may join junior jazz later in the year. Members of Jazz Band A are also welcome for extra jazz play! 

Eckstein Engineers (After school)
Eckstein Engineers is for 6th-8th graders who like to solve problems, work in teams, and do hands on STEM activities. The club is limited to 20 students and meets on Thursdays after school.  6th and 7th grade students interested in trying out for a spot on the FLL Robotics Competition Team in the Fall should apply to join the Eckstein Engineers in the Spring. See Ms. Amato or Mr. Johnson for an application in March! First meeting starts Thursday April 10th.

Running Group (After school)
Come join other students in our non-competitive running club. We will meet two times a week after school. Days of the week TBD. Contact Ms. Mensher for more details.

Strings Workshop (After school)
Strings Workshop meets Mondays after school in Room 117. For students currently in Orchestra that would like extra music supports. See Ms. Kong for more information.
